Ukraine boasts a 40+ million European consumer market, with stable activity in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and retail. The 2019 was marked with an increase in retail turnover by 10%, equalling to US$ 20 billion, with the e-commerce sales exceeding US$ 3.5 billion due to the increased use of online marketplaces, while early 2020 was marked with a fresh M&A pertaining to acquisition of the largest eye-care product distribution network in Ukraine. The country has been transforming the spirits industry through its demonopolisation and preparing the largest state-owned spirits producer for privatisation. As the international retail chains and domestic FMCG producers have expanded their businesses in Ukraine, there has substantially grown demand for logistics facilities.

Along with the major international FMCG chains operating in the Ukrainian market, local players pose serious competition, too. Global market developments push overseas and domestic operators to design and offer more sophisticated solutions adapting their businesses and customer service to the new realm.

Despite the economic and consumer slowdown across the world lately, Ukraine has been performing steadily in the FMCG and retail evidencing double-digit growth in the segment.

Our lawyers have been engaged in sophisticated mandates by some of the leading FMCG companies and continue to advise sectoral clients in the course of their operations in Ukraine and overseas.
